The Process of the 1st QT-RS
Let’s take a deep dive into the mind of the 1st QT-RS….
Having a brand that once called itself 4 Hoopers 1 Podcast. To now having that transform into 4 Hoopers 1 Purpose, gave me a sense of urgency. An urgency to serve all hoopers, of all shapes and sizes. Ultimately, to bring some innovation to the sportswear market for passionate basketball fans. 
Now, with the pressure to compete with household names such as Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Under Armour, and many others. I had to find the product that does not even exist. That being one of its own kind, 1st QT-RS was the answer I was looking for. A 3-in-1 basketball short, compressions, protective padding, and shorts.
This product is one that will evolve over time and continue to fuel our creativity as a brand. My nerves were all over the place creating the design without any template to go off of. I will continue to create without templates to reference. Main reason for that is to provide original innovation to everyone.
Choosing the fabrics were another obstacle I had to cross. As well as, finding a manufacturer to take on this project. So, I took this process one step at a time. Step one, brainstorm top fabrics for basketball shorts and gain opinions. Polyester and mesh fabrics were the top choices. Then, I thought about the compressions and how to combine the two for a complete comfortable fit.
I knew I had to iron out the details and finishes for the fabric choices. The process behind this needed some trial runs. So I had to dig through my own wardrobe and dictate the best course of action. Therefore, I decided on the specifications for the shorts. Which were:
- 100% Polyester
- 9” inch seam
- Dri-Fit
- Pre-Shrunken
- Pre-Rinsed
- Breathable Active Dry Jersey Mesh Section
Next, were the compressions:
- 80% Polyester, 20% Spandex
- Inner Lined
- Odor Free
- Pre-Shrunken
- Pre-Rinsed
- Sweat proof
- Breathable Active Dry Jersey Mesh Section
Then the padding material is made of EVA Padding on the thighs and hips.
Once I finished with getting the sample and testing them out, I was honestly surprised. From just trying them on to hooping in them. I knew I had something that was different. While having full reigns to make the 1st QT-RS from the inside out, I also created something that was probably never thought of.
- Price - The total cost of the 1st QT-RS is $40. Now that’s more than affordable compared to other brands. Just think about it, you’re getting basketball shorts, compressions, and padded protection for $40. If you go a look up these items individually, they would normally cost double if not triple the price.
- Washing convenience - Instead of having to wash two or three separate items you just have to wash one. Cold wash with your colored clothes and dry. Then “Wallah” you’re ready to enjoy them again!
- Empowering Design - If you look at the trim on the bottom of the shorts. You’ll see that we have our slogan on them. “Always Become Your Own Legend”, anytime you feel defeated or exhausted that message will right there. We all have our own stories we are living out. I encourage each and everyone of you reading this to become the legend that makes the story worth sharing.
Finally, the name 1st QT-RS was chosen because this is the beginning of our story. No matter what the obstacles may be, we are ready to tackle this journey head on. This product will be our very first as an athletic brand. We will continue to innovate and grow our audience. As a brand, we will do our best to uphold standards that spread positivity and acceptance of everyone. Also, provide the very best service and products we have to offer.
